My progress disappeared.

Progress is stored on the device only. Deleting and reinstalling the app clears it, and it does not transfer to a new device.

Where are the leaderboards?

Leaderboards and achievements use Game Center. Sign in to Game Center in iOS Settings, then tap the Game Center button on the title screen.

The snake will not stop where I want.

The snake never stops on its own: you change its direction, and it keeps going through corners. Swipe in the direction you want, slightly before the turn.

Does the game need an internet connection?

No. Everything is on the device. Only Game Center leaderboards need a connection.
